Kati Haycock, one of the nation's leading child advocates in the field of education, is President of The Education Trust. The organization was founded to promote high academic achievement for all students at all levels - pre-kindergarten through college.
Although many organizations speak up for the adults employed by schools and colleges, Ed Trust speaks up for students, especially those whose needs and potential are often overlooked, by evaluating every policy, every practice, and every dollar spent through a single lens: what is right for students.
Haycock previously served as Executive Vice President of Children's Defense Fund, the nation's largest child advocacy organization. A native Californian, Haycock founded and served as president of The Achievement Council, a statewide organization that provides assistance to teachers and principals in predominately minority schools in improving student achievement. Before that, she was director of the Outreach and Student Affirmative Action programs for the nine-campus University of California system.
