Candidate Statement

Mathematics teachers in the State of Georgia are the most flexible teachers in the nation due to our adjusting curriculum. But, teachers across the nation have virtually the same challenges that we face on a daily basis: for example, students’ gaps in their mathematics education. As a nation and as teachers in the State of Georgia, we need to collaborate and share our knowledge and experiences to address these challenges, as well as learn new ways to enrich our students to be competitive not only nationally, but internationally. In the role as Secretary for GCTM, I would support the ever-changing role of the Georgia Mathematics teacher, with collaboration among colleagues, educators and those that influence the future of Georgia’s education.
